These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of Better Cost (the "Service"). By using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the Service.
Better Cost is a free, general-information toolkit for comparing common Australian living costs — utility bills, mortgages, loans, credit cards, and similar. Every calculator runs entirely in your browser, and you don't need an account to use any of it. Creating an account is optional and is only used to save your own scenarios or edit your profile.
Better Cost only performs calculations based on the numbers, rates, and assumptions you enter. It doesn't know your full financial situation, doesn't recommend one option over another, and is not a substitute for advice from a licensed financial adviser, accountant, lawyer, or your bank or lender. Every result screen lists the assumptions it used — check them before relying on the number. Any example rates, fees, or thresholds shown are illustrative only and may be out of date; always check your own bill, contract, or offer, and current government or lender figures, before making a decision.
You're responsible for the accuracy of everything you type into a calculator. Better Cost doesn't verify your inputs against your actual bills, loan documents, or offers, and can't know if you've mistyped a rate or missed a fee. A result is only as accurate as the information you gave it.
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including warranties of accuracy, merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. We don't guarantee the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that any calculation will be free of bugs.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Better Cost and its operator are not liable for any loss or damage of any kind — including financial loss, lost savings, lost opportunity, or any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages — arising from or connected to your use of, or reliance on, the Service, including any decision you make based on a calculation it produced. This applies even where a calculation turns out to be wrong. Nothing in these Terms excludes any consumer guarantee that cannot lawfully be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law.
Creating an account is optional. You must provide accurate information and are responsible for keeping your login details secure. You must be able to lawfully form a binding agreement (generally 18 years or older) to create an account. We may suspend or close an account that breaches these Terms or misuses the Service.
Don't use the Service to break the law, attempt to disrupt or gain unauthorised access to it, scrape it at scale, or present its results as personal financial advice to someone else.
Donations made through the Service are voluntary, processed by Stripe, and non-refundable except where required by law. We never see or store your card details.
The Service may reference or link to third parties (for example, lenders, comparison rates, Stripe, or Google sign-in). We aren't responsible for their content, accuracy, or availability.
We may update the Service or these Terms at any time. The "last updated" date above will change when we do. Continuing to use the Service after an update means you accept the new Terms.
You can stop using the Service, or delete your account, at any time from your Profile page. We may suspend or terminate access for any breach of these Terms.
These Terms are governed by the laws of Australia.
